Devil’s claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is a plant with dentate leaves and deep roots that gets its name from the appearance of its fruit, which is covered with hooks meant to attach onto animals fur. Its properties have been known by many civilizations, including the Bushmen that have used the plant for hundreds of years.
In 1960 it arrived to Europe, where it has been widely used ever since.
